THIS COURSE IS COMPULSORY AND MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER FOR STUDENTS TO GRADUATE.
Students will be given a maximum of two attempts to successfully pass this course.
It is a prerequisite for:
- Diploma of Engineering: Mathematics 1A, Mathematics 1B, Engineering Science
- Diploma of Health Sciences:Â Chemistry of Biological Systems I
- Diploma of Science: Mathematics 1A, Chemistry 1
To ensure that we are able to support you from day one, we need to know where your current maths knowledge sits:
DIPLOMA OF ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE
If you are studying the Diploma of Engineering or the Diploma of Science, you will complete an exam via Moodle. The exam must be completed after you have enrolled, and before Week 1 commencement of classes.

- Fractions
- Indices
- Linear Equations and Graphs
- Quadratics
- Exponentials and Logarithms
- Trigonometric Functions

DIPLOMA OF HEALTH SCIENCES
If you are studying the Diploma of Health Sciences, you will complete four diagnostic tests when you join us.
These diagnostic tests are part of your Core Maths Skills course, they are self-paced and the duration of each test will depend on your ability, but can be paused and resumed at a later date (the tests do not have to be completed in one sitting). However, ideally you will complete these as early as possible.
